Notes From: New York City Christmas
We made a quick trip to New York City to check off a bucket list item. Here is a brief overview in photos:
First, a moment to appreciate Terminal 3. If every terminal could be like Terminal 3, airport travel would be so much better.
We made a stop at Madison Square Garden to see an old friend. Reilly Smith looks so sad in those colors. Candace says, "red shorts makes it look like a clown outfit."
While at Madison Square Garden, I found the wall reference to the last time I was in Madison Square Garden. That was the beginning of a very interesting week.
Did you know that the original "Winnie the Pooh and Friends" have been living at the New York Public Library since 1987. We went by to visit them. I could not get over the wear and tear of love on Piglet. Look how many times that little head must have been brushed by a little finger.
Candace spotted this logo on a wall. It was missing just one letter so we tried to line up a window in the background.
The main reason for the visit was to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. It's been on Candace's bucket list for a while so we were happy to check it off.
Did you know the tradition of a tree there is nearly 100 years old? (Visit the wikipedia page and see how sad that first tree looked. Things change so fast.)
The whole area looks pretty amazing these days though. It's such a festive atmosphere.
We went to an Off-Broadway show then found a nice balcony to see the commotion of the city. This is how I prefer seeing all commotion in my life: far away from a much warmer place.
The next day it was planes, trains, and automobiles back to Las Vegas. We were happy to leave just as the city was dropping twenty degrees and charging into winter.
Each year, the very useful Flighty app will compile all of your flights into a nice passport recap. This is probably the last flight for me to add for this year...a travel year that will be hard to beat.
